As we prepare to return to school Monday, we want to remind our staff and families of the importance of the attestation process. If you’ve been sick or exposed to illness, please make sure to stay home. We’re all in this together to keep each other healthy and our school open. #safecelebrations #healthyholidays

Reminder - in the case of building closures/late starts due to inclement weather, students will transition to a remote learning schedule.
School may be closed due to inclement or extreme weather (poor air quality, freezing rain, snow, freezing temperatures, wind chills, etc.)
In the case of these closures, students will transition to a remote learning schedule. On these days, students will receive live, remote instruction as scheduled by their teachers in Microsoft Teams. Student support time and teacher directed activities will occur outside of live instruction time. Transitioning to a remote learning schedule will alleviate our need for snow makeup and canceled school days.
Families should be prepared for building closure and have alternate childcare plans in place for students. Students should be prepared by making a habit of bringing their laptops and school supplies home daily.
It is essential that we have current contact information for all families to relay these messages. If you have recently changed your phone number or email address, please contact the school to make these important updates. Text messaging is the fastest way to receive inclement weather messaging from our district.

NEW TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM
Do you have a child who will turn 5 years old before September, 2021 and is not currently in preschool?
Do you have a child who turned 5 prior to September but you wanted to wait a year to enter your child in Kindergarten?
Call to find out more information: (509) 248-3966
Just a reminder that parents/guardians must complete the health screener at least 30 minutes prior to your child(ren) arriving to school. If you do not complete the screener or do so later than 30 minutes before school is to begin, your child may be kept out of class until the screener registers into the system or you are contacted. Failure to screen or doing so late, impacts learning time for all students. Screenings keep our staff and students safe and this safety measure is required by the Yakima Health District and our school. Thank you!
School start times are as follows:
AM session
8:25 for grades 6-8
8:30 for grades K-5
PM session
12:35 for grades 6-8
12:40 for grades K-5
Virtual Academy meal distribution is today from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm in front of the school.

Bulk meal distribution is tonight from 4:30 – 6:30 pm. This distribution is available for all virtual academy and in-person learning students due to the Thanksgiving holiday. This is the only meal distribution for the week as there is no school on Wednesday through Friday this week.

Reminder - due to observance of Thanksgiving, there is no school (virtual or in person) on Wednesday through Friday. Enjoy your holiday!
Families – you may have noticed that some districts around the valley have started to close in-person learning. Please be aware that if cases continue to rise, the Yakima Health District (YHD) may determine that schools need to close. If directed by YHD or if cases arise in the building that make staffing impossible, we will have to pivot to virtual learning as a district. Please be prepared for this if it comes to pass. It is the last thing that the district wants to do. Please follow health guidelines regarding social activities that transmit COVID-19 and answer your child(ren)’s health screener honestly every day. Sending children to school with symptoms puts the district’s ability to stay open at risk as well as the health of our students and staff.
We will give you as much notice as possible if the school must close. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Lisa Gredvig
Superintendent

Liberty Bottleworks has provided 600 water bottles to our school! Shout out to them for this wonderful donation! Students don't have access to water fountains during the pandemic but they all have access to water bottle filling stations in the building that they can utilize with their gift! Thank you Liberty Bottleworks!
